Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to Grožnjan?
Grožnjan is located in inland Istria, approximately 30 km from the coast. The nearest airports are Pula (75 km) and Trieste (95 km). By car, take the Istrian Y motorway and exit at Baderna or Buje. From there, follow signs to Grožnjan. The town is also accessible via the scenic Parenzana cycling and walking trail.
Is there a restaurant at B&B Artegnana 1798?
Yes. Our Bistro Artegnana serves authentic Istrian cuisine from breakfast through dinner. The bistro features one of the most beautiful terrace views in Grožnjan, overlooking the rolling hills and vineyards of inland Istria. Reservations are recommended.
What is there to do in Grožnjan?
Grožnjan is known as the "Town of Artists" and offers art galleries, live music events, and cultural festivals throughout the year. Nearby, you can enjoy wine tasting at local wineries, truffle hunting in Motovun forest, olive oil tours, cycling along the Parenzana trail, and visiting medieval hilltop towns such as Motovun, Oprtalj, and Buje.
What types of rooms are available?
We offer six spacious rooms in three categories: Standard Double, Superior Twin, and Superior Double. All rooms feature private bathrooms, modern amenities, and views of the Istrian countryside. Maximum occupancy is 2 guests per room.
Is Grožnjan worth visiting?
Absolutely. Grožnjan is one of the most charming hilltop towns in Istria, with cobblestone streets, panoramic countryside views, and a vibrant arts scene. It is an ideal base for exploring inland Istria's wine region, truffle country, and historic villages — far from the crowds of the coast.
How far is Grožnjan from Motovun and the coast?
Motovun is approximately 20 minutes by car from Grožnjan. The nearest coastal towns — Novigrad and Umag — are about 25–30 minutes away. Poreč is roughly 40 minutes, and Rovinj about one hour. The central location makes Grožnjan a perfect base for day trips across Istria.
